One page per client, showing only the work you choose.
Pick the boards and groups a client should see, add their email addresses, and they sign in with a link from their inbox. They follow status and dates, read your updates, comment and send new requests. Client contacts are free and unlimited.
What a client sees
A portal lists the items on the boards you picked, grouped the way your board is. Opening an item shows its status, start and due date, its checklist, the fields you keep on the board and the files attached to it. Updates your team posted appear underneath, signed with the author's first name.
Internal updates never reach the portal. Neither do archived items, items in the trash, subitems, or boards and groups you did not choose. The visibility rules run on the server for every page and every file download, not in the browser.
- Status, start date and due date
- Text, number, date, dropdown, tags, rating, progress, link and other plain fields
- Files on the item (you can switch this off per portal)
- Team updates, never internal ones
- The item's checklist and how much of it is done
- Approvals waiting for that client's decision
Branded, with email sign-in
Each portal has its own link at /c/<your-link-name>, your client's logo, a brand colour and a welcome message. Clients do not create an account or a password: they enter their email address and receive a sign-in link that works once and expires after 30 minutes. A signed-in session lasts 30 days.
Workspace owners and admins create portals and manage contacts from the Clients page. You can preview the portal as any contact before inviting them, and deactivating a contact ends their access and cancels any unused sign-in links.

Every item on the chosen boards, or Only items in the groups you pick, per board.

Comments and requests come back to the board
Clients can comment on any item they can see. Their comments appear in the item drawer under Client comments, and the item's assignees and followers get an in-app notification. Comments from one client's portal are never shown in another client's portal, even on a shared board.
Switch on requests and the portal gets a New request form: a title, a description and an optional file up to 10 MB. Each request becomes an item in the board and group you choose, with the client's name and email on its first update. Workspace owners get an in-app notification for each one.
- Comments on visible items
- Requests land in a board and group you pick
- Assignees and followers are notified of comments
- Owners are notified of new requests
- Comments and requests switch on or off per portal
Questions
Do clients need a paid seat?
No. Portal contacts are not workspace members, so they do not count toward your member total or your bill. Portals and contacts are on every plan, including Free, and there is no limit on the number of contacts.
How is a portal different from inviting a guest?
A guest is a TallyWeek account with board access inside your workspace, on the Pro plan. A portal contact never enters the workspace: they see a separate, branded page with only the items, fields and updates the portal allows, and they sign in with an email link.
Can a client see our internal discussion?
No. Updates marked internal are excluded from the portal, and so are replies to them. Only regular team updates are shown.
Can I put the portal on my own domain?
Not today. Every portal lives at /c/<your-link-name> on the TallyWeek domain, with your client's logo and colour on the page.
Which fields can clients see?
Status, start and due date, the checklist and the board's plain fields such as text, numbers, dates, dropdowns, tags, ratings, progress and links. Files, connect-boards, dependency, mirror and time-tracking columns are not shown as fields; attached files appear in their own section when the portal allows files.
Who can set up portals?
Workspace owners and admins, from the Clients page in the app.
