The work that comes back every week, without anyone recreating it.
Four small features for repeated work: recurring items that spawn the next occurrence, checklists inside items, item templates per board, and a CSV import for everything you already have in a spreadsheet.
Recurring items
Open any item, set how often it repeats, and choose whether the next one appears when this one is completed or on schedule when its date arrives. When the next occurrence is created it copies the item's columns, assignees and followers, resets the checklist and moves the due date forward.
Each occurrence is a real item on the board, so it shows in every view, in My Work and in the calendar feed like anything else. The source item keeps its history; only the newest occurrence carries the rule.
- Every day, or every N days
- Every week on the weekdays you choose
- Every month on a day of the month, or on the last day
- Every year
- Repeat when the item is completed, or on schedule
- Optional end date
Checklists and item templates
A checklist lives inside the item, below its columns: add a line, press Enter for the next, tick them off. Rows and cards show a badge with the count, and the drawer shows a progress bar. For steps that need their own owner or status, subitems are still there.
Save any item as a template for its board, columns and subitems included. Choose New from template when the same kind of item comes up again, or make one template the default so + Add item starts from it. Up to 30 templates per board.
Steps that belong to one item and one person. Keyboard add and delete, a progress bar, and a badge on the row.
A pre-filled item: fields and subitems. Pick it when adding, or set it as the board's default.
When each step needs its own owner, status or date, use subitems instead of a checklist.
CSV import
Upload a file or paste rows from a spreadsheet. TallyWeek detects the delimiter, then you map each column to the item name, group, status, priority, due date, start date, a person or an existing column, or create a new column for it. Up to 5,000 rows per import.
Groups that do not exist yet are created. Dropdown values it has not seen are added as options. People are matched by name or email. Start from the board menu, or pick Import from CSV when creating a new board.
- Upload or paste
- Comma, semicolon or tab, detected automatically
- Map to built-in fields or existing columns
- Create new columns during import
- Creates missing groups and dropdown options
- Matches people by name or email
Questions
Are recurring items, templates and import on the Free plan?
Yes, all of them, on every board.
What is the difference between repeat on completion and on schedule?
On completion creates the next occurrence when the item reaches the finished status, dated from the original due date. On schedule creates it during the daily check when the due date arrives, whether or not the item was finished.
Does the next occurrence keep the comments?
No. It copies the columns, assignees, followers and an unticked copy of the checklist. Updates stay on the occurrence they were written on.
Can I import from monday.com, Trello or Asana?
Export a board from them as CSV and import it here. Names, groups, statuses, priorities, dates and people map onto TallyWeek fields; anything else can become a new column. Attachments and comments do not come across.
Is there a CSV export?
Not yet. On the Pro plan the REST API returns every item as JSON.
Can a template include a checklist?
A template saves the item's fields and its subitems. Checklists are not part of a template today.
