Time on the item, a price on the hour, an invoice at the end of the month.
Start a timer on any item or type in what you worked. Rates turn hours into money, budgets warn you before a project runs over, reports show profit and margin, and billable time becomes a client invoice you can print to PDF.
Timers, entries and timesheets
Start and stop a timer from the item drawer or from the board's Time tracking column. Each person has one running timer at a time; it shows in the top bar on every page and in every tab, so you can stop it from wherever you are. Starting a new one stops and saves the last.
Forgot to start it? Add an entry by hand with a duration like 1h 30m or 90m, or with a start and end time, a note and a billable flag. One entry covers up to 24 hours. The item drawer shows total and billable time, and time used against the item's estimate.
The Timesheets page shows one person's week: items down the side, days across, with row, day and week totals and the billable split. Click a cell to add or edit that day's time. Owners and admins can open anyone's week.

Rates, cost and budgets
Set an hourly rate as a workspace default, board, person, person on a board. The most specific rate wins, and each rate has a start date, so a new rate from next month leaves last month's time at the old price. An optional cost rate, usually set per person, feeds profit and margin.
Money is stored as whole cents, never as a floating-point number. Each entry is rounded to the nearest minute and priced on its own, so a report row, an invoice line and an invoice total always add up to the cent.
Give a board a budget in hours or money, for the whole project or per month, and mark it as a retainer if it is one. The board's Budget and rates panel shows what is used, what is left and, for monthly budgets, where the month is heading. Workspace owners get one in-app alert when burn reaches the threshold you set (80% by default) and another at 100%.
Person on a board, then board, then person, then the workspace default.
Cost rates are optional. With them, reports show cost, profit and margin next to the amount.
Once at your threshold and once at 100% per budget period, never repeated.
Reports and invoices
The time report groups hours by person, board, item, week, client, for this week, last week, this month, last month or any range, with billable hours, amount, cost, profit and margin. Download the grouped report or every entry as CSV.
Create an invoice from not-yet-invoiced billable time on the boards and dates you pick, with lines per item or per person. Edit line descriptions, add a tax rate and notes, then save it as a draft or issue it. Every invoice gets the next number for the year. Issuing locks the time on it, so nobody can change an invoiced hour; voiding the invoice unlocks it again.
Each invoice opens as a clean, print-ready page. Use your browser's print dialog to save it as a PDF and send it however you send invoices today. TallyWeek does not email invoices or collect payment.

Questions
Is time tracking on the Free plan?
Yes. Timers, timesheets, rates, budgets, reports and invoices are on every plan. Only the REST API and MCP access to time entries needs Pro, because API keys are a Pro feature.
Who can see rates and money?
Workspace owners and admins manage rates, budgets and invoices and see everyone's time, cost and margin. Members log their own time and see only their own entries in reports, without cost figures. Guests cannot track time.
Can I export invoices as PDF?
Each invoice has a print-ready page. Print it and choose Save as PDF in your browser. There is no separate PDF file generator, and TallyWeek does not send invoices or take payments for you.
Which currencies are supported?
18 currencies with two decimal places, including USD, EUR, GBP, CAD and AUD. The workspace default rate sets one currency for the workspace.
What happens to time after it is invoiced?
Issuing an invoice locks every entry on it: it can no longer be edited or deleted, from the app or the API. Voiding the invoice unlocks those entries.
Does it connect to accounting software?
Not directly. Reports and entries download as CSV, and on Pro the REST API returns time entries as JSON.
