Forms

Every board can publish a public form. Each submission becomes an item, so requests, leads and bug reports land where the work happens.

Publish a form

  1. Open the board and choose Add view, then Form.
  2. The Form view opens with a live preview. A share link is generated the first time you open it.
  3. Set a title and description, choose which fields to include and mark any of them required.
  4. Choose Copy link and share it.

The form is public: anyone with the link can submit, and no TallyWeek account is needed. Forms are included on the Free plan.

Fields

The form is built from the board's columns, so there is nothing to design twice. Custom columns of these types can be included: Text, Long text, Number, Date, Dropdown, Phone, Link, Checkbox. The built-in Status, Priority and Due date fields can be included too, unless the board hides them.

For each field you can change the label shown to the sender, add a placeholder, mark it required, or leave it out of the form. The item name is always asked for and always required. Other column types (for example Files, Timeline or Connect boards) are not offered on the form; fill those in after the item arrives.

What happens on submission

  • A new item is created on the board with the name and the values the sender entered.
  • The item goes into the board's first group. If the board has no groups, a group called Form submissions is created for it.
  • Required fields are checked on the server, so a submission that misses one is rejected even if the browser check was bypassed.
  • Values are only accepted for fields you included, so nobody can write to columns you left off the form.
  • If the form did not include Status, new items start in the first status.
  • The new item fires any automation whose trigger is "When an item is created". Use that to notify someone or to set a priority for every submission.

Sharing the link

The share bar at the top of the Form view shows the public URL, in the form https://tallyweek.com/form/<code>. Copy it into an email, a website button, a QR code or a chat message. The link does not expire.

The public form page is a standalone page on tallyweek.com. To put a form on your own site, link to it or open it in a new tab; there is no embed snippet.

Changing or stopping a form

  • Edits to labels, placeholders and required flags apply as soon as you make them.
  • Reset form clears the title, description and field settings and rebuilds the form from the board's current columns. The link stays the same, so anything already shared keeps working.
  • Archiving or deleting the board takes the form offline: the page shows "This form isn't available" and submissions are rejected.
